The Gold Coast features an abundant network of waterways, making it a haven for water sports and activities
The Broadwater is particularly prized by locals and visitors. Shielded by The Spit and South Stradbroke Island, this calm and sheltered waterway offers a safe environment for exploring and recreational activities on the water
From seasoned sailors to novices, kayakers, boaties, canoeists and paddle boarders, there are many ways to get out on the water. Sailing charters, reflecting the Broadwater’s ties to marine tourism, offers relaxing ways to explore at a leisurely pace. For young people wanting to get their hands on the ropes, there are opportunities to learn and participate in the sailing process. Sailing cadet programs offer an introduction to the sport, as well as skills development.
While sailing offers a serene escape, the Broadwater also caters to those seeking a more adrenaline-charged experience. The popular activity of jet skiing provides an exhilarating way to navigate the expansive waterways. For seasoned jet skiers and first-timers alike, the Broadwater’s welcoming environment allows everyone to enjoy the thrill of skimming across the water’s surface.

The Spit Stories project is funded through the Spit Works Program.
