The Spit Stories is proudly funded by the Queensland Government through the Spit Works Program. The stories were developed in close collaboration with the Community Reference Panel – a group of representatives bringing together environmental, cultural, marine, trading and social perspectives, united by a shared passion for The Spit.

Working with a specialist interpretive writer, panel members contributed their unique insights to review and refine stories across four key themes: Community, Environment and Ecology, Leisure and Trading, and Maritime.

We thank the passionate community of The Spit and all those who generously shared their knowledge, time and stories to help bring this project to life.

A fifth storyline is to be developed for Dreaming and Caring for Country stories which will bring forward indigenous perspectives to The Spit about the traditional custodians enduring relationships with the lands and waters.
